Altrincham's Remembrance service starts about 10.55am on 8 November at the Dunham Road garden. Urmston has the civic service; Hale parades at 2.45pm. All times.
Remembrance Sunday 2026 is on 8 November. Trafford Council runs the services and has now published this year’s times for every memorial in the borough. Altrincham’s main service is at the Garden of Remembrance on Dunham Road at about 10.55am.
The quick answer
- Altrincham: the Garden of Remembrance on Dunham Road, opposite St Margaret’s Church. Arrive for 10.30am; the service starts at about 10.55am, with a short second service at Chapel Street at about noon.
- The civic service is in Urmston this year, not Hale, the council says. Hale still has its own parade, now at 2.45pm from St Peter’s Church (2.30pm last year).
- Bowdon and Hale Barns start at 10am in church, then move outside for the silence.
Updated 5 October: Trafford Council has published the 2026 times. Changes on last year: Hale’s parade moves to 2.45pm, Sale’s roads close from 9.30am, Bowdon’s closure is now 11am to noon, and the civic service moves to Urmston.

What to know about each
- Altrincham. The Chapel Street service is about a 15-minute walk from Dunham Road. The council warns that parking near Chapel Street is hard at that time on a Sunday and names Regent Road car park, so leave time if it is full. Near the garden, it suggests the roads around it, including St Margaret’s Road. A few chairs are available, and refreshments are served at St Margaret’s Church afterwards.
- Bowdon. The memorial is outside the church at the vestry end. Parking is on nearby roads and at The Bowdon Rooms, with refreshments in the Bowdon Parish Centre.
- Hale Barns. After the church service there is a short procession to the war memorial. Refreshments follow in All Saints Church hall.
- Sale. Parade members report to the Parade Marshal outside St Paul’s Church by 10.15am. The council points drivers to Q car park on Brook Road, M33 2AE. Sale wreaths can be ordered through the Royal British Legion.
- Hale. Parade members arrive at St Peter’s Church by 2.15pm. The service is led by the Reverend Mike McGurk of St Peter’s. Afterwards the civic party returns via Westgate to Ashley Road, where the Deputy Lieutenant takes the salute, and refreshments are in St Peter’s Community Hall. Hale held the borough’s civic service in 2025.
- Urmston. The council has limited this year’s parade to military groups and uniformed organisations such as Scouts, Guides, Brownies and Brigades, because it has grown too big to fit safely onto Davyhulme Circle. Groups not on that list should email events@trafford.gov.uk; otherwise the council asks them to watch from Davyhulme Circle.
Every service goes ahead “in all but extreme weather conditions”, the council says. It is outdoors: bring a coat and an umbrella.
Laying a wreath
Wreaths are ordered from the Royal British Legion or on 0345 845 1945. For an organisation’s name to be read out at a service, the council asks for its confirmation of attendance form. Questions go to the council’s Armed Forces Officer or Event Officer, whose numbers are on the Remembrance page.
Still to be confirmed
- Armistice Day, Wednesday 11 November: no Altrincham event was listed by the council on 5 October.
